Special Fundraising Project for 2022-2023
The special project for 2023 was in response to climate change which regularly bring 100+F "heat waves" to Nicaragua. After discussion with clinic staff, we have agreed to raise funds to (1) install air conditioning in the clinic and (2) install solar panels to ensure a sustainable system.
Special Fundraising Project for 2019
MedNica purchased a laptop computer in 2019-202 to maintain the patient's personal health information in a separate and secure location. The computer enables the staff to keep track of visits and other aspects of clinical care that a re needed in current medical practice.
The computer was needed for the portable ultrasound that was purchased the previous year.

Special Fundraising Project for 2018
Portable Ultrasound machines are used increasingly in medical settings to diagnose a variety of musculoskeletal, abdominal, gynecologic, pulmonary and cardiac conditions. The ultrasound as the new "stethoscope" enables physicians to evaluate and diagnosis problems in the clinic at the bedside and more accurately refer or treat patients. The Clinic Juanita Connelly and Dr. Karina Zepeda are asked for our support to purchase a portable ultrasound. This technology will greatly enhance the diatonic evaluation of the patients who may be treated on site or referred expeditiously to hospitals or specialists when needed.
The ultrasound transducer and software costs about $8000/USD. The Lawrence H. Geller and Bernadette Cronin-Geller Social Justice Fund generously agreed to match funds designated to the ultrasound project.
We were able to purchase the ultrasound but now need to raise an additional $9500/USD for 2018 to provide the funds needed to run the clinic. Please consider an additional donation to ensure the clinic continues to meet medical needs in Managua, Nicaragua.
